Kenneth Mars was best known for his roles in several Mel Brooks films, the most memorable being the insane Nazi playwright of "Springtime for Hitler", Franz Liebkind, in 1968's The Producers and the relentless Police Inspector Hans Wilhelm Fredrich Kemp in 1974's Young Frankenstein.
Mars had the role of the friendly fireman neighbor Harry Zarakartos on the television sitcom He & She, and has also been featured in a number of small roles in programs such as the Misfits of Science pilot episode, the audio program Adventures in Odyssey, and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Shadowplay". He was cast opposite Bette Davis in Hello Mother, Goodbye!, a 1973 television pilot that was aired by NBC but never added to its schedule.
Mars often played characters with exaggerated accents. He was German in The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and Malcolm in the Middle, and was the Croatian Hugh Simon in What's Up, Doc?. His voice work is most remembered for his role of Ariel's father King Triton in Disney's animated feature The Little Mermaid. ~Fallout wiki page

Ogden Nash - Ogden Nash Reads Ogden Nash 1953

On: Saturday, September 15, 2012

Ogden Nash Reads Ogden Nash was one of spoken word label Caedmon's earliest (1953), and most successful, releases. Nash reads "Portrait Of The Artist As A Prematurely Old Man," "Bankers Are Just Like Anybody Else, Except Richer," and 26 other poems. The cover drawing is by legendary celebrity artist Al Hirschfeld.
Nash reads his poetry in a soft Boston accent, with an even tempo and virtually no theatrics. It would be very easy to over accentuate or telegraph the "bombs" but he just smoothly lets them out.
It's tempting to say Nash's poetry is out of date, belonging to another time, a different sensibility. One of Nash's favorite subjects was women, and while his observations might have been funny 40 years ago, today they would definitely raise the ire of the more correct thinking among us. To some, his menagerie of animal poems, collected on
Parents Keep Out, stand up best. These poems show his mastery of puns, wordplay and bizarre rhymes.
Nash worked for the New Yorker (where his poems first appeared) during the '30s. He wrote a number of screenplays, and wrote the lyrics for the musical comedy
One Touch of Venus.   Ogden Nash died in 1971.

Alexander King was a bestselling humorist, memoirist and media personality of the early television era, based in the United States.
In his late fifties, after becoming a frequent guest on the a Tonight Show hosted by Jack Paar, King emerged as an incongruous presence in the realm of national celebrity: an aging, irascible raconteur, with elegant mannerisms and trademark bow-tie, who spoke frankly and disarmingly about his bohemian lifestyle, multiple marriages, and years-long struggle with drug addiction. His checkered past led TIME magazine to describe him as
"an ex-illustrator, ex-cartoonist, ex-adman, ex-editor, ex-playwright, ex-dope addict. For a quarter-century he was an ex-painter, and by his own bizarre account qualifies as an ex-midwife. He is also an ex-husband to three wives and an ex-Viennese of sufficient age (60) to remember muttonchopped Emperor Franz Joseph. When doctors told him a few years ago that he might soon be an ex-patient (two strokes, serious kidney disease, peptic ulcer, high blood pressure), he sat down to tell gay stories of the life of all these earlier Kings."
He was also the author of several books, including May This House Be Safe from Tigers, Mine Enemy Grows Older, (an account of his addiction to morphine, and his recovery), and I Should Have Kissed Her More, Is There Life After Birth. He illustrated and/or translated numerous editions of classics in the early 20th century as well as a book by Peter Altenberg released as Alexander King Presents Peter Altenberg's Evocations of Love (a collection of sweet memories of the heart from another place and time in history). King's easy conversational recollections of the first part of the 20th century are informative and often hilariously funny. His accounts include many famous names most will recognize.
