The crack and cocaine refs are impossible, man (too many comics from the '70s and '80s). Fake drunk=Foster Brooks, real drunk=Joe E. Lewis. Trumpet=Jack Sheldon (or Jackie Vernon?). Malaprops=Norm Crosby/Durante/Leo Gorcey? Insults=Don Rickles (previously, Fat Jack E. Leonard). The mallet would be the comic who popularized "Here Come the Judge," Pigmeat Markham (that is who popularized it before Sammy Davis, right?).

Don't blame me, I'm half asleep,

I'm a fart-ete, but I'm guessing the mallet would be gallagher, the mangled words I'm guessing terry foy, but I doubt you're talking about spoonerisms, and insults, yeah, Don Rickles.

A couple of UK answers:

Insults: Jerry Sadowitz
She At A Piano: Victoria Wood

Right, in my haze last night I thought "gavel" for "mallet."

Pretty good so far - let's see how the weekend visitors do. By the way, fart-ette is the feminine for fart (as if I had to explain. . .)

Oh - and a clarification - the drug references are for well-known comedians with well publicized problems, one with coke and the other freebasing.

Tie a little too tight - Rodney
Constantly mistaken for him back in the day - Dick Smothers
Insults - Rickles (side note: my pet turtle, Rickles, passed away last Friday)
